Opleiding: EKH-Keurmeester Onder de Haak (ODH)
This course qualifies inspectors as EKH Inspectors – Lifting and Hoisting Accessories. You will learn how to independently carry out examinations in accordance with the EKH Working Instructions. The course was developed by EKH and is provided by VTC.

Admission Requirements
- At least MBO level (mechanical engineering level 2)
- At least 2 years of experience with lifting and hoisting accessories
- Able to work independently and make decisions
- Sufficient verbal communication skills
What you will learn
- Safety and Working Conditions legislation
- Examination philosophy and methodology
- Background to the EKH system and Working Instructions
- Standards and rejection criteria
- Organisation and safety during examinations
- Technology relating to, among other things, chain equipment, wire ropes, hoists, clamps, hydraulic/magnetic equipment and fall protection
- Testing and load testing (tensile testing machine, NDT methods)
- Examination reporting and administrative processing
- Conduct and communication towards customers
Course duration
- 6 half-days of theory
- 6 half-days of practical training
- 1 half-day of communication
- 1 half-day of tensile testing
- 2 half-days of refresher training and examination preparation
Examination & Certificate
- Theory and practical examination at TECH Examination Centre
- Under the supervision of DNV
- Certificate of competence, valid for 5 years
- Verification via CertCheck
Further Training & Recertification
- At least 1 Inspector Day every 2.5 years
- Annual EKH audit with traceable examination files
- Sample audit between the 2nd and 4th year
- Recertification during the final 6 months (theory exemption if all requirements are fully met)

- If an Inspector Day is not attended during the first period, attendance at the next Inspector Day is mandatory. The Inspector Day for the second period must subsequently also be attended. This late attendance at an Inspector Day will be charged to the employer.
- If a sample audit is not completed during the specified period (between the 2nd and 4th year of certificate validity), an additional sample audit must be completed within 6 weeks of the verification date; this will be charged to the employer. The sample audit during the next specified period (between the 2nd and 4th year of certificate validity) must also take place.
Fall Protection Examination within Below the Hook
After completing the EKH Below-the-Hook Inspector Training, the inspector is also able to assess fall protection equipment. A fall protection examination course is included in this programme because these products form part of the inspection and examination of lifting and hoisting accessories and related safety equipment. This includes, among other things, safety harnesses, lanyards, carabiners and other components of personal fall protection.
