This course qualifies you as an EKH Crane Inspector. You will learn how to independently examine cranes in accordance with the EKH guidelines and how to report the results. The course was developed by EKH and is provided by VTC. An additional NEN 3140 module is part of the programme.

Admission Requirements
  • At least an MBO qualification in mechanical engineering or an equivalent level
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical drives/circuits
  • At least 2 years of relevant practical experience, such as maintaining, repairing and inspecting cranes, or working in the manufacture, assembly and/or installation of cranes

Course duration
  • 5 half-days of theory
  • 2 half-days of practical training
  • 3 half-days of NEN 3140 (theory and practical)
  • 1 half-day of communication skills
  • 1 half-day of examination preparation

Examination & Certificate
  • Theory and practical examination at TECH Examination Centre
  • Under the supervision of DNV
  • Personal certificate, valid for 5 years
  • Verification via CertCheck

Further Training & Recertification
  • At least 1 Inspector Day every 2.5 years
  • Annual EKH audit with traceable examination files
  • Sample audit between the 2nd and 4th year
  • Recertification during the final 6 months (exemption from the theory examination if all requirements have been met)

Theory and practical examination. Two years of practical experience examining / inspecting / maintaining / repairing cranes. MBO mechanical engineering qualification at level 3. Theory and practical examination during the final six months of the certificate’s validity. Compliance with all requirements listed below provides an exemption from the theory examination.
During the annual EKH audit, demonstrably and traceably show that different types of cranes, used under different operating conditions (customers), have been examined.

Between the 2nd and 4th year, one (1) sample audit is carried out on site.

Participation in at least one (1) Inspector Day every 2.5 years.

Successfully completing 4 of the 5 annual tests in the EKH Academy.

  1. If an Inspector Day is not attended during the first period, attendance at the next Inspector Day is mandatory. The Inspector Day for the second period must then also be attended. This late attendance at an Inspector Day will be charged to the employer.
  2. If a sample audit is not completed within the specified period (between the 2nd and 4th year of certificate validity), an additional sample audit must be completed within 6 weeks of the verification date; this will be charged to the employer. The sample audit in the next specified period (between the 2nd and 4th year of certificate validity) must also take place.
